3 levels of waterproofing.\n

During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (around 2 hours of walking), 4000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking) and 8000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.

Measurement of the boots' thermal insulation.

It used to be impossible to tell the precise temperature up to which your shoes would protect you. Now it can be done: the temperature limits for use are shown on your Quechua shoes. Using cold sensing tests while hiking and in the lab with a panel of customers, we measured the thermal resistance of our boots while active and at rest. We factor in the difference in perception between men and women.

Footwear waterproofing test.\n

The boots, which are lab and field tested, provide optimum waterproofing and breathability. To start, they are immersed in water with pressurized air inside to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the boot. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking, half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.

Shoe waterproofing level.

The Arpenaz 500 Warm boots for Women are waterproof for up to 4,000 flexes.

Field tests.

All our boots are tested in use and for comfort by users who are representative of the target market under conditions that replicate those you will experience in use. Our Field Test Missions team up the product manager with people unconnected with QUECHUA, to test, improve, and validate our products.

Measuring our boots' thermal insulation.

Previously, there was no accurate way of measuring the minimum temperature at which your boots protect you. Now it can be done: the temperature limits for use are shown on your Quechua shoes. Using subjective sensory chill tests conducted in the field and in the lab with a panel of customers, we measure the thermal resistance of our boots when the user is moving and stationary. We factor in the difference in perception between men and women.

Laboratory testing

Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: ripping off eyelets and straps, bonding, toxicology, resistance to UV rays, friction on the sole and upper components, accelerated aging.
